区块链技术能解决上述问题。一，区块链使资讯去中心，增加其真确性。二，已输入的资料是不可改动的，增加资讯安全。三，成本极低。这些优势能令医疗界各持份者安全地分享资料、故此能够增加药物研发的速度。有鉴于其技术的潜能，很多医疗保健行业的公司都对区块链技术甚感兴趣。

资料管理

事实上，很多医疗保健公司已经利用了区块链技术来管理数据。例如大都会人寿位于新加坡的子公司LumenLabs利用区块链技术处理糖尿病患者的个案。 LumenLabs 的系统是由多间大公司共同开发。其中包括瑞士再保险公司 SwissRe、英国的科技及区块链专家 Cognizant、以及电子健康纪录供应商 Vault Dragon。系统以区块链，整合患者电子健康的数据。患者于确诊后，能够即时批出保险款项，整个过程中毋须人手处理保险索偿。从而减低成本。又如美国的Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) 已经与韩国区块链公司MediBloc合作，以增加患者资料管理的效益。现在，MGH各部门的医生能详细了解病人跨部门的情况，减轻医护人员在资料管理上的负担。这不仅有利就医，还有利对病人的健康管理。此外，该技术还可以与智慧合约 (smart contract) 和行动装置结合，让医护人员能够追踪患者的身体状况。

药物研究

多间院校和研究公司已经利用了区块链技术，减低收集数据的成本。例如著名的哈佛大学医学院与上述的MGH 合作，利用区块链和人工智能技术，分析患者的身体状况，让医生能够第一时间向患者提供详细分析。区块链技术也吸引了台湾医院，它利用了该技术来增加管理数据的效能，务求增加用作医疗研究的数据准确性。此外，研究员可直接通过区块链技术来分享临床研究数据，增加其资料的真确性和准确性，让研究人员能够安心使用数据。

假药问题

假药问题在医疗保健行业十分严重。在发展中国家，约30%药物是假的。全球的假药市场十分庞大，价值约USD2000亿，当中在互联网上出售的假药价值约USD750亿。这不但增加患者用药的风险，而且大大减少了药物公司的收入。使用区块链技术大大改善此问题。该技术使医疗数据更具透明度。每个药物的来源，以至物流到消费者的资料都是十分清楚的。此能大幅减少假药和伪药交易，不但有助保障药物专利拥有人和增加药物研究的诱因，而且能够减少药物的监督成本。
